Moscow Mitch, as he has been referred to, is not so much concerned with supporting Russia, but more consumed with soliciting Russia’s election help for Trump. McConnell is a very strong Trump supporter especially since his wife, Elaine Chow, who was born in Taiwan, is Trump’s Secretary of Transportation. She gave her husband a 78 million dollar gift for his state for infrastructure. Not only that but she has designated one if her senior staff member’s as a special liaison to McConnell that practically guarantees additional funding for future McConnell initiatives for appropriate projects in Kentucky. No other Senator or Congressman has ever been granted such blatant political favor in the history of this country.
McDonnell has another pressing objective – to hold on to the Senate. If the Democrats win both chambers of Congress in 2020 and Trump wins the presidency, he will definitely be impeached. If the Democrats also win the presidency, then Trump will probably avoid impeachment and be charged with Obstruction of Justice by the new Attorney General based on the Mueller Report. In spite of what AG Bar had represented, that report did not exonerate Trump and contains significant evidence that Trump was guilty of “high crimes and misdemeanors “ as provide by Section 3, Article 2, of the US Constitution. In addition, the Democrats could also pass legislation to increase the number of Supreme Court judges from 9 to 11, and the new president could fill the two new vacancies with a progressive majority, something that I would highly recommend. All the process would take is legislation.
While “Moscow Mitch” seems to be a fitting name for the very unpatriotic Senate leader, I think that a more fitting name would be “UnAmerican Mitch” because of what he has done as Senate Leader. All Federal workers including UnAmerican Mitch must take an oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States,” but Mitch has violated the Constitution and has yet to be punished.
