Mitch McConnell is doing all that he can to help Trump win in 2020. Firsts of all, he is refusing to allow the Senate to vote on a bi-partisan Bill designed to increase security over our elections especially directed to Russia. It’s a proven fact that Russia helped Trump win in 2016 and according to US National Security agencies, Russia is poised to help Trump again in 2020.
One reason that Trump must win is because if he loses, the new administration will charge him for Obstruction of Justice as discussed in the Mueller Report. If he is able to win, however, the Statute of Limitations will expire and by the time he is out of office in 2024, Trump will be a free man.
McConnell does have a fallback position if Trump doesn’t win by stacking the courts with extreme right-wing Trump appointees. Then if Trump is charged, McConnell anticipates that as the case makes its way through the courts, throughout each level, Trump could have judges who will side with him. Should his case make its way to the Supreme Court, in all probability, Trump would get a favorable ruling because of the Court’s composition.
