RIGHT-WING FABRICATIONS ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING

global_warmingOver the years, the leader of the Republican Party, Rush Limbaugh, has made some insensitive, asinine and just plain stupid comments.  According to Limbaugh, man-made, fossil fuel-based global warming is a hoax and that the alleged perpetrators are promoting it to advance a political agenda.

During a recent afternoon addition of his talk show, Limbaugh said that that ideology is at the root of the global warming discussion:

One of the things that the left attempts to do is to codify elements of their ideology as ‘science.’  That is what global warming is all about — and many other things as well. Codify liberalism as science, therefore making it irrefutable, making it inarguable — and, of course, they failed. Everybody knows that it’s a hoax, Limbaugh said.

But the attempt is made frequently to codify liberalism as science or some other unquestionable aspect of life that people just accept on the basis of the credibility of the field that we’re talking about, Limbaugh added.

Essentially, Limbaugh argues that global warming is an attempt by liberals — presumably in the sciences, other academic fields, in public policy, and the media — to codify an ideology as science, and not let objective data and evidence be the basis for the conclusion.  Of course, Limbaugh does not base his “theory” on facts other than those he makes up.

All those frigid temps, snow and boiling water tricks? Man, that’s just the liberal media and Democrats trying to pull one over you. Or so Rush Limbaugh says. The political commentator and radio host spent a good portion of a recent radio show attempting to debunk the so-called “polar vortex”. He claims the word was made up by the “global warming agenda” only recently.

“Now, in their attempt, the left, the media, everybody, to come up with a way to make this sound like it’s something new and completely unprecedented, they’ve come up with this phrase called the ‘polar vortex,’ he said on his show. “It actually sounds like a crappy science fiction movie to me, but anyway, that’s what they’re calling it.”

Unfortunately for Limbaugh, the “they” aren’t global warming pushers. “They” are scientists and meteorologists who coined the term as early as 1959 as Al Roker recently pointed out in response to Limbaugh asinine comment in the American Meteorological Society 1959 publication.

Limbaugh, Sara Palin, Donald Trump and other of his colleagues and cohorts, make up stuff on a consistent basis, usually blaming liberals and relying solely on supposition, rather than facts. For example, this past June in an interview with Fox News, the darling of the Tea Party movement, Sara Palin claimed that while temperatures could rise to that of prehistoric times, the Earth, “had it pretty good back then.”  She followed this up by saying how different plant and animal life survived through the heat, and many thrived.  She was then quoted during the interview as saying, “The polar bear might die off, but think of all the dinosaurs we’re gonna get!”  When questioned about her theory, Palin claimed that the loss of cold climate animals would naturally bring bad warm climate animals.  That’s what I call logic.” Palin said, “Something the Looney Left in this country doesn’t understand.  They’re so Debbie Downer about this whole thing, they can’t see the bright side.”  Palin’s interviewers immediately interjected stating that it is clearly impossible to bring an extinct species back to life, as extinct means they are gone forever.  A surprises Palin then stated that it was done in Jurassic Park, and she believed that the movie was based on a true story.

This month, noted climatologist Trump tweeted, “This very expensive GLOBAL WARMING bullshit has got to stop.  Our planet is freezing, record low temps and our GW scientists are stuck in ice.”

As global warming continues to receive more exposure on the internet, the television, and the radio, you may start to pay more attention. If global warming is an issue that you are concerned about or if it is an issue that you would like to explore more, you will want to continue reading on. A few interesting and occasionally devastating global warming facts that I became aware of through my research are outlined below.

In my opinion and based on my research, global warming is real. Although there is a lot of opposition and debate that surrounds global warming, scientific proof shows that global warming is real. This is something that cannot be ignored much longer, even by those who oppose global warming or claim it is a sham. The earth’s temperature is rising. With that in mind, this aspect of global warning isn’t always debated as much as the affects of global warming are.

Glaciers and polar icecaps are melting. This is another fact of global warming that we should all be well aware of. While there is debate that surrounds this fact, this melting is occurring. Generally speaking, the debate surrounding the melting of glaciers concerns the causes of it. Global warming is causing glaciers and icecaps to melt at a faster rate of speed, but it is not the sole cause.

In keeping with the melting of glaciers, icecaps, and snowcaps, this melting is having a profound effect on sea and wildlife. For starters, polar bears are the animals experts are most concerned about. Polar bears rely on glaciers and icecaps as a way to travel and find food. As these important masses continue to disappear, polar bears are likely to find it more difficult to travel and find food. In fact, many will die because of this difficulty.

The melting of glaciers and icecaps will also have an impact on coastal flooding in the future. This fact is supported by much independent research and many computer generated models. As for the impact this important global warming fact can have on the coastal areas, it can and will be devastating. Many coastal residents will be displaced. Those in the United States who are most like to be impacted by this flooding are New Orleans residents.

In addition to melting ice and snow, the increase in the earth’s temperature will also have an impact on water. This is most commonly the case with coral reefs. Coral reefs are suffering due to the steady rise in water temperature. This change with coral reefs is commonly referred to as bleaching. This when coral reefs lose their beautiful, vibrant colors. Unfortunately, this can have a negative impact on other sea life, as many rely on coral reefs for food, shelter, and protection.

If you are interested in knowing the facts about global warming, you may wish to conduct your own research, or accept what Limbaugh and others are saying.  As previously noted, I believe global warming is real and the most unusual weather patterns that have occurred over the past few years clearly indicate there is a problem, but that’s just my take.
